PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening cup on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
