Hazbin Hotel's Showrunner Has Seen Your Second Season Predictions — With Some Good News
The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform this week, and fan speculation has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of characters living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner commented recently. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how many of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans make a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
